WHAT IS A CLIMATE STORY?

There is no one right way to tell your climate story. Every voice is unique, and whether you're sharing how climate change impacts your daily life, your mental health, or your vision for the future, your story has power.

Climate stories are personal accounts of how climate change affects your life, mental health, and emotional wellbeing.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

By collecting and sharing stories, we hope that we can increase climate emotional awareness to inspire change.

Humans are 22 times more likely to remember a story than any other form of communication. Stories are woven into our neurology; we’re hardwired to enjoy both telling and hearing them.  At ecomind, we believe storytelling is more than just a way to communicate—it’s a tool for awareness raising, healing, empowerement and climate action.

STEP 1: TELL YOU STORY FOLLOWING THE CLIMATE STORY ARC

You can use the following climate story arc or you can tell the story your way

INTRODUCE YOURSELF

First, we want to get to know you. Here are some prompts to help them understand what makes you tick:
Name
Age
Location
What you do and what do you care about

CLIMATE CHANGE & YOU

Next, we want to understand how climate change is impacting you.  Here are some prompts to help you:
How does climate change impact your daily life?
Have any of your friends or family been impacted by climate change?
How do you think climate change will impact your life in the future?

HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE MAKE YOU FEEL?

Now let’s connect the dots and help translate how climate change is impacting your mental health and wellbeing:
What is the dominant climate emotion you feel, what triggers it and how does it manifest for you?
For me, the mental health and wellbeing impacts of climate change look like...

SELF-CARE PRACTICES

Next, tell us how you look after your mental health and wellbeing:
What self-care do you do to support your mental health and wellbeing?

LET’S END ON A HIGH

Let’s round out the story arc with a call to climate action. Here are some ideas:
What gives you hope?
How do you do ‘climate action’?
What’s your advice for others experiencing the same feelings?
